The Patterdale Event

Each year the Pan-Clan holds a National Event for all members of the Pan-Clan in the heart of the Lake District. This event takes place over the first weekend in May, starting on the Friday evening and carrying through to the end on the Bank Holiday Monday. The dates will obviously change each year, but it remains on the Bank Holiday weekend

This event is a fairly recent addition to our calendar, having been running only since 2006. It is a fairly low-key 'Season Starter' consisting of great banter and food in the evenings, including live entertainment on the Saturday night, and sometimes on the Sunday evening too. Each year we get closer to having the whole hotel just full of Pan-Clan people.

During the day on Saturday and Sunday there is a ride-out. Each year the organisers get their little grey cells working to offer something new. In the past we have had mass ride-outs with nearly 50 bikes en-tour through the Lake District; Treasure Hunts; scenic rides to famous landmarks; visits to a brewery.

What will they think of next? Well, the 2012 took place in Wales; and the 2013 will too! It might need a new name soon.

A testimonial from a member of the public (9th May 2012):

My wife Marion and I wish to put in writing our thanks to all the Pan-Clan Bikers who stayed the weekend at the Waterloo Hotel Betws-y-Coed.

We were celebrating our 56th Wedding Anniversary, which we expected to be a quiet affair as after all, unlike the 50th or 60th Anniversaries, 56 is nothing special.
However we were treated to a magnificent weekend. made to feel part of the party whether it was the Music night or the Quiz night.

Not only did you make us welcome but you also gave us a present which we can assure you is now displayed in our lounge.

Thank you friends - Thank you Nigel for asking us to join in.

Brian

What modesty - 56 years of marriage - nothing special! Glad you enjoyed the company.
